Poetry of the day

In the streets , see

Affluent mothers
now past their own rapids
are cheerful;
their groomed daughters,
aware, are solemn.
Indigent mothers
now sunk in their own rapids
are solemn;
their ungroomed daughters,
unaware, are cheerful.
