There are a number of issues here, but the first one of course that justice delayed is justice denied. As far as the lawyers here they did what they are good for. They have kept themselves happy and wellfed. Here the courts have helped them to do this ofcourse. Judges are of course exlawyers or faild lawyers or those who prefer the power over money etc. What keeps them going; money, a transnational and greedy lawyers. And then the system the legal one set up by the British and kept going in the post colonial set up. Who should be managing this? Luckily we are not yet a theocracy, no God's unalterable law. Rightly it is in the hand's of a parliament, a elected parliament. Immature democracies have their problems the elected have to recover the money they spent to get elected and more. They have to make their supporters( read industrialists), lobbyist and vested groups happy. Who has time to set up an effective system or worse reform a tangled mess. Choose a not so powerful politician and to satisfy the middle class lust for meritocracy,preferably a successful lawyer and get him to mouth inanities. If he is any good he wants to move on and get a more lucrative ministry though one can use the Law ministry also to help ones friends. Anything but good legal management. The problem is the alternative as demonstrated by Sanjay Gandhi( if the readers remember him!) is worse. Let us blather on in private and pray that we do not need the law to redress any wrong we suffer.
This smacks of hell of a lot of corruption- and THAT CAN BE TRACKED if we the public force this. It will be interesting to know how many Swiss Bank accounts got pumped up during this time, and the politicians ARE HAND IN HAND with BUREAUCRATS in this, yes beauraucrats. There is no other reason why details of black money held in Swiss bank accounts is NOT BEING DISCLOSED- and that when Swiss government already said years back that they are ready to disclose details of ALL SWISS ACCOUNTS provided the government of the country asks for it. Unless the big pot of corruption is broken open, bureaucrats and politicians together will keep killing innocent public to fill their own bank accounts.
It is high time we let the foreign law firms practice in India. Atleast, they are better in class action suits!
