  1. But my son was full of mirth and laughter. He is a fan of the Argentinean team! His theory being Brazil would have been their biggest stumbling block!!

My question is simple: Does Argentina play what you term as 'People's football' or 'Corporate football'?

  2. No , no, never !! Your son has been beguiled by shallow media hype. After Europe started playing corporate football -- inaccurately termed as "total football" -- Brazil has been the only team holding out , and beating the Europeans.Alas...

  3. I have never been an enthusiast of football, but going by newspapers still favored Brazil, as I considered them to be a more balanced team than others.

  4. They did not play well yesterday. They were not artistic but as ready to hack down the opponent. It was no total football

  5. Old post new comment. The cup is emptying fast. The brim is already uncovered. Football has changed. Geography has shifted.

Argentina out, The 'ball boys' beat the 'gods'. What next?

  6. The first goal by Brazil was beautiful! And the one that was missed because of the offside was a very marginal decision. Then it was as gentleman Hardy says not artistic. A team that was the favorite should not have fizzled like that. The fear of losing led poor Dunga to compromise the flowing football Latin America is famous for.
There should be some hope for Dutch. They have never made it despite some great football throughout the ages.
Boring Spain and the dazzling German machine.
The real drama is over. Or is it?

  7. As far as drama is concerned, the French provided a good old farce which is their genre anyway. Then of course the in laws the Maradonna dancing like Madonna on the sideline.
The humming vuvuzelas mourn the departed African continent. That was more the tragedy for me! Gyan ka gyan failed.

  8. I noticed that while the good old Tota and Mayna lead some other birds are also around. Phoenix rising from ashes, bulbuls too but what about the little bird right on the screen edge. Is it the little bird who is telling the great taposh something he missed?
No corporate vultures here and no crowing either. Perhaps the Blog needs some soaring eagles?
    A puzzled observor.

  9. That bird is a dumb but concerned pigeon who lands up when alarming things happen.
The blog needs much more - the poor blogger and the birds are acutely aware

The Ball no question makes of Ayes and Noes,
    But Here or There as strikes the Player goes;
And He that toss'd you down into the Field,
He knows about it all--He knows--HE knows!

    Does He?
