The headlines run- Unprecedented show of people in Cairo’s Tahrir square. We look and wonder how this happened in a day. We’re startled. So is everyone. Especiallly the monarchs of today. The are petrified. They missed a beat, brows turned sweaty here in fear, and there in euphoria.
No hesitation. This is revolution. Hearing after a long time. Yes, history is moving. A step has been taken in the forward direction. The Arab pandemonium has spilled over. Some of us here feel the heat, others feel its warmth. The globe revolves, the revolution transmits. Hopes are revived, so is fear. No bloodshed, no parties, no leaders. Only people, ocean of people and their energies. Euphoric indeed.
Meanwhile in India new recruits for ITBP burn buses, pelt stones, damage property of the ‘public’. The pandemonium in India spreads. Will it happen to us? We ask. ‘No’, they say, “we’re a DEMOCRACY”!! Revolutions don’t happen in democracies. Strangely similar however, were the news items in television. You’d almost assume Bareilly to be Cairo.
