We have always been let down by pseudo intellectuals. The core of their belief is that people are fools; let me explain. When they say Shahrukh khan or Amitabh can do the same like Anna, it is insulting the intellect of the people. We have seen in Tamil Nadu again and again that it does not work. For example if people were fools they would have listened to Vadivelu/Kushbu during the last elections and voted for DMK. But it did not happen. Why? People are clear about what they want. But our political commentators have not moved ahead with time. People have changed and matured, and are starting to understand democracy.
Let us for a minute assume that the crusade against Corruption fails.. so what? This will be seed for future movements. Most of the Civil Society have not done anything for this country apart from insulting it's people again and again. We think and argue so much and in crafting policies and its implementation, we are a big zero. Example: Indian government's involvement in the last Eelam war. the ultimate benefactor was China, which is building their navalbase, commercial airport and supplying advanced arms...India thought it was doing something clever but we can see the results today that even a country like Srilanka has no respect for us...our inability to take bold decisions, to do things that mater to the nation is affecting us. and this is because of the stone age arm chair experts and politicians. People like Aruna Roy, Arundhadhi Roy etc think they should be the only source for Media on critical issues, to express their thoughts. When a common man does express his thought through Media, these pseudo intellectuals slam the common man...let the common man for once in this country say something for themselves...our policies were always decided by the Elite and all they did was to take care of themselves...When the common man raises up they try to slam it, rubbish it and forcefully control it using government machinery, media, because they will loose control... but even if they suppress it now, they cannot suppress it in the future.
In Tamil Nadu, Cho and Idly vadai kind of people are armchair philosophers ....Though I have many issues contradictory to that of Anna Hazare, I support him because politicians are painfully realizing that they no longer can do what they want and there is no one to question them, especially from the mass of the people.
